2016-03-13 - South Miniloc, El Nido, Philippines

13m - 45 min - Dived with Aj from Submariner Diving Center

One of the most amazing dives I've ever done. This was the first dive in El Nido. There were so many tropical fish like parrotfish and angelfish. We swam to an area full of giant cabbage coral. I saw a lion fish and a grouper. The reef was so full of life that the experience was overwhelming, I found it hard to take in how much life there was to see. Fantastic time! 2016-03-13 - Helicopter Island, Northern Palawan, Philippines

15m - 43 min - Dived with Aj from Submariner Diving Center

The second dive in El Nido, at helicopter island. This dive had so many clown fish on display living in anemones. I also saw a cute little cow/toad fish? -- not 100% sure what species it was. Rich coral ecosystems were super colourful. There was brain coral too, many nudibranchs and sea squirts. On this dive I tried to learn how to shoot bubble rings by forcing the back of my fists through streams of my bubbles. GoPro footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovExeUmuces

2016-03-13 - Nat Nat, El Nido, Philippines

14m - 45 min - Dived with Submariner Diving Center

Wonderful dive at Nat Nat in El Nido. This time Jim Tyrell was my dive buddy. We explored a lot of different areas with similar tropical fish to previous locations. Highlights from this dive were clown fish, trumpetfish, a robust ghost pipefish, sting ray and a turtle. Overall a spectacular dive, although by this time of the day after 2 previous dives, I was very cold! GoPro footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2KsJgGYbf0

2016-03-14 - Paradise Beach, El Nido, Philippines

19.8m - 47 min - Dived with Aj from Submariner Diving Center

Went diving with Submariner for another day! Decided to ditch the work activities so that I could do this instead. Moto from japan was my buddy and AJ my dive master again. We went to paradise beach which is not a reef but a sandy area. Life is sparse, but also very unusual and interesting. AJ said it's one of his favourite dive spots. I saw 2 robust ghost pipefish, a seahorse, starfish, toad fish?, clown fish, crab, eel, a passion salmacis urchin, and some very beautiful jellyfish. Afterwards we spent time on the beach and hung out with some puppies! GoPro footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1dHs86Pb_4

2016-03-14 - South Miniloc, El Nido, Philippines

15.2m - 52 min - Dived with Aj from Submariner Diving Center

Second time diving at South Miniloc. I asked AJ if we could dive this spot again because it was so amazing the first time. I managed to recognise a number of the landmarks this time around so everything felt familiar. I spotted the lionfish again from the first time around. There were fewer schools of fish to see and the vis wasn't quite as good as the first time, but it was still a great site to see. I got some stable footage of the grouper again, along with lots more footage of tropical fish, and I swam with schools of yellowtail fusilier again. I also tried some macro shots of small nudibranchs sitting on top of a gold sea squirt. This time I tried to rest my body on solid parts of the sea floor in order to get some stable footage of clown fish and other things like nudibranchs. AJ stopped me at one stage. Some kind of fern-like creature (most likely a Philippine hydroid) attached itself to my upper arm and I hadn't noticed at all, AJ removed it with a pole. It fell to the ground and moved around a little bit. I had thought that species was actually a plant, but it's part of the animal kingdom and it feeds on plankton. I also saw 2 devil scorpionfish sitting still, AJ prodded them into moving and I got the footage of it. Behind their fins are vibrant red colours, it was fascinating to see. 2016-03-14 - Twin Rocks, El Nido, Philippines

14m - 41 min - Dived with Aj from Submariner Diving Center

This was my last dive in El Nido. Moto, AJ and I did a drift dive at Twin Rocks near Miniloc island in El Nido. Highlights from this dive were mostly the formations. There was a great reef wall, and cave-like formations that we swam through, it was a lot of fun. At the end of the dive I tried blowing bubble rings for the very first time.
