2017-05-25 - Spertini Beach, Santa Margherita, Italy

12.1m - 64 min - Dived with Enrico Forzanini from Diving Group Portofino

Beach entry, calm water First dive for the Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB) specialty certification. Started with a buoyancy test and decided to with 6 kilos. Since I already had the weights in the back pockets the trimming was a bit off. Learned how to go down the first two meters (exhale), take a horizontal position (remember to bend your knees, but not that much) and keep this position during the dive. Arms on the front for trimming too. Practices controlling buoyancy with breath. Also, struggled with frog kick.

12m - 78 min - Dived with Enrico Forzanini from Diving Group Portofino

Beach Entry, same location as the previous dive. practices UW navigation with a compass. Found azimuth and return azimuth with no problem. Have to remember to do things slowly and check fo neutral buoyancy before doing exercises. Also, practices laying a guideline, knots were no problem, recovering the line was also ok but it took more time than I expected. Since the practice was done in shallow water this was my longest dive ever, 73 minutes! I could feel the fatigue at the end.

31.9m - 60 min - Dived with Enrico Forzanini from Diving Group Portofino

Boat dive, 15 min ride to the dive site. First actual wreck dive to get wreck diver certification. Dived around the wreck for a general survey. Worked with the slate to mark relevant depths, entry points and potential hazards. Good for the most part, visibility was not very good and got disoriented at the end. Managed to plot the most relevant features of the wreck

30.3m - 54 min - Dived with Enrico Forzanini from Diving Group Portofino

Last dive to complete the Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty certification. Felt much better controlling my buoyancy and got a better handle of the frog kick. Also, noticed that my air consumption was more efficient. Also, could control my depth by breathing

29.7m - 57 min - Dived with Enrico Forzanini from Diving Group Portofino

Last site survey in preparation for wreck penetration. Had to plan, navigate and execute the dive with very little assistance from the instructor (different one since the dive center changed him due to logistics). Located the second section of the wreck with no problem. Good navigation! and completed the guideline exercise. Finished the dive with just a bit more that the reserve in the tank. Lying the line takes always more time than planned.

37.2m - 49 min - Dived with Enrico Forzanini from Diving Group Portofino

Last dive to complete the wreck diver specialty training. Dived with a different instructor since the dive center had to make some logistics adjustments. Since the site was surveyed before, finding the wreck and the entry point was no problem. Penetration was through the narrow window and always stayed in the light zone. After about 10 mt. found the planned exit point and exited with no problem. The rest of the dive was a regular exploration. Quite relaxing and enjoyable.
