Diver's Notes

Dive Buddy: Adam Pierce

Adam had a spare steel 100 (since his partner Sarah was out of town in Tucson spending time with her parents), so I was in for a second dive! Declan and Connor from OE also joined us. We spotted them chatting with Kym and Andrew who were teaching a junior dive class. After a brief sidetrack of helping a couple jumpstart a dead battery from Kym's SUV (in full dive gear!), we were off to the waves.

We followed pretty much the same route as the first dive - surface swim out to the first buoy. I spotted a massive formation of bat rays directly under us during the surface swim out. That got everyone snorkeling!

The first thing we saw after descending was another barbwire jellyfish, but this one was at least 20 ft long!! Most of the second dive was pretty lifeless, though we did see a cormorant diving at 80ft, a couple purple globe crabs, and smaller groups of lobsters. I ended up exceeding my decompression time sightly and signaled Adam to turn the dive while my dive computer flashed asc time with an up arrow and a ceiling at me (later found out I slightly exceeded no deco time, but Emily told me my Zoop Novo is one of the most conservative computers out there).

We came across a pretty large spanish shawl nudibranch on the swim in, though!
