The passage is an interesting dive site.
Basically you enter from the west, and drift through the passage between two islands, with the intent to end in golden bay (another dive site), where you can explore the coral gardens.
The current is a tricky one. you need to stay close to the north side of the passage, close to the coral. Not doing so could get you ending up in the next island chain! One of the group, Roy, was struggling to stay level. He didn't stay close enough to the sides and got caught in some down currents, forcing him to kick quite a bit to stay up.
Staying close to the wall and the coral takes a bit of effort.
Managed to complete the run nicely and enjoyed the leisure swim in golden bay.
Akim, the guy who runs the Allacea operation, on the Ambai, also joined (he joined quite a few times in fact). Somehow he managed to stick to the right side (south) of the passage though. Coming back he reported that he spotted several reef sharks and three eagle rays. Of course, since he was alone, and didn't bring a camera, he had no evidence to support that claim, and as we say in diving "If you didn't take a photo, or have a witness, then it didn't happen..." :-)
After the dive we took another walk up one of the smaller hills at golden bay, and enjoyed the sunset. Took some nice shots there.
