For the first time in two years we got back in the water. I didn't have nearly enough weight on me and by the end it took 7kg to hold me and all that brand new equipment down. It was also the first time I took my camera diving and the lens fogged up after about 40 minutes. It was probably caused by the heat of the video display. There were tons of small damsels and corals abound. It was like swimming in dad's fish tank again.

Advanced Open Water dive #2--Naturalist. This was my second time back to Friday's Rock. I identified sailor's eyeball and grape weed; barrel sponges, sea squirts, featherstars and sea cucumbers; gobies, puffers, blennies a giant trigger and my first shark. The shark was found by Jade. Joe gave me his flashlight so I could see him hiding under the coral.

Negative entry blue water descent. Had problems with my right ear, ascended and cleared. Grey reef shark were in the area and we found a couple of them. Toward the end a triggerfish seemed to be playing with me and posed for a picture. On the safety stop, I played with what seemed to be harmless dime-sized jellies, but later my knuckles swelled up a bit. After several opinions and hours of research, the problem with my right ear was self-diagnosed as middle-ear barotrauma. Symptoms of squeaking when my ear cleared and hearing everything through a tin can disapated after a little more than a week.
