Diver's Notes

Recovered 10mtrs of very heavy chain from the old moring at Spot A, this was to be re-deployed at Latitude rock. 2 teams of 3 divers, 1st team detached the chain from the large boulder and attached 2 x 20ltr drums, then filled with air. 2nd team attached a further 2 x 20ltr drums and a lift bag to the chain and raised it to the surface.

I was controlling the lift bag attached and inflated at the 9mtr mark... the chain was handing vertically from the bottom to this point and once given a little more lift we could get it to the surface and attach it to the boat.

It was great to do a dive that had a physical objective, however more practice to ensure safe accent rates are also managed would have been better. Reviewing my profile, I would have preferred a slightly slower accent from 9mtrs.

All in all a short but satisfying dive. I would do more practice at this depth before attempting a similar recovery at 40mtrs. Note: it takes allot of air to fill 20ltr drums, the water pushing out of the small mouth also pushed the some of the entering air out - wasting allot of air.
