Diver's Notes

This was the second wreck drift dive of the day with no current. I had equalization problems on the way down and had to ascend a few feet before continuing down.

There was lots of swimming again and we visited the Spirit of Miami and the Orion (I think). Did a short swim through of the Orion's lattice structure, my dive buddy Christina went over it. On the spirit of Miami (which only the wings are left) we saw a few lionfish and I stuck one with my polespear. Unfortunately I don't think I killed it, but Tyler used my spear to kill it himself. A group was watching us. There were about 4 of them, but since we didn't want to lose the group, we only killed one. I took the lionfish to the first underwater feature I saw and scraped him off the spear. On the third site I was low on gas and gave Tyler my spear and ascended to the saftey stop.

I had some reverse block issues on the way up so I took my time with Christina. At the safety stop we kept floating either up or down (must work on neutral bouyance). When I was going to deploy the SMB, I sunk more than I thought and the the SMB yanked me to the surface. During the uncontrolled rapid ascent (which might have been from the 20 foot mark, my ear felt like it was bursting. All I heard was air whistling around my head and cracking noises. Luckily, I don't think there was much damage and by that night, my hearing was pretty much back to normal.
