Diver's Notes

First dive of the Blue Fire in Biscayne National Park. Almost didn't make it because of the government shutdown and uncertainty over whether we would be allowed at the site. This was Diane's and I's first dives without anyone else we knew on the boat.

The descent was rather well, and although there was no current on the surface, there was a 1.5-2 knot current on the bottom. We swam around the wreck and then did a swim through. Saw some snappers in one of the hole. I then proceeded into an area I thought was a swim through and was spooked by a goliath grouper hanging out in the compartment.

Afterward I started shooting lion fish. After nailing one, I went to go feed it to an eel but couldn't find him. While searching for the eel, I spotted a giant lion fish. Unfortunately he was below my MOD and I couldn't chase him for long out of fear of oxtox. I nailed one more lionfish towards the end of the dive but had to let him swim away because the current was too strong on the anchor line to despine him working our way up. Overall a fun Dive
