Diver's Notes

Second Dive: Location Unknown

I started the second dive joined up with Randy's group since Diane was sitting out the dip because of sea sickness. We descended normally. I spotted a muttonn snapper but when I shot, I missed. I regrouped with the group and we saw some lobsters. I started wrestling with one but he crawled to the other side of the rock and Randy pulled him out. We continued on the dive and all the bugs we saw were babies.

I started running a bit low on air and started my ascent. Since I didn't have a specific assigned buddy and I had been separated from the group (I could see them but would have required a lot of effort to swim against the current to rejoin) I deployed my own SMB from depth and did my safety stop before surfacing.

I was the first one back on the boat and I started helpin reboard others. Shortly after everyone reboarded, I started feeling really nauseated. I threw up over the back of the boat. It then felt like someone had hit me in the testicles and I had a lot of pain in my right flank. I walked to the forward area of the boat and tried 'rearranging'. That didn't work so I laid down on the deck.

A few minutes later, I realized that my belly was numb, and when I checked my legs, I could barely move them. I let Randy know and he put me on continuous flow O2. When we arrived at the dock I was airlifted to the nearest hospital with a chamber. After the first treatment all tingling and numbness were gone, it took a few more treatments to clear the abdominal pain.
