Diver's Notes

This was part of the InDepth Ride'n'Dive trip. Joined the crew Friday afternoon in Liz's new car (370Z) and followed the bikers to Nelson Bay (overnighting in Windsor). Weather a Nelson Bay was sunny, but windy. Didn't affect this shore dive but the boat dive for the 12th was cancelled due to 3 - 4m swells forecast. Liz was supposed to test out her dry suit on this shore dive but a lack of instructors able to give her the time she needed meant she missed out. I dived with John Marshall (my Open Water instructor from a couple of years ago) and Hugh. Difficulty getting down initially but got there in the end (need to work at purging BCD sufficiently to get down) and rest of dive was fine. Surprising amount of fish life - plenty of schools of smaller fish (incl. Old Wives). Massive Blue Grouper. Plenty of Nudies, a Ray/Skate, small wobegong (MAY have been a dwarf wobbie but not making any claims).
Down side to what was a really good dive was somehow camera got set to max exposure and so ALL shots were massively over-exposed. Some first aid in Lightroom made some shots usable.

The following day we tried to get a consolation shore dive in at Boat Harbour but crashing waves and washing machine conditions meant it was a no-go, so early departure from Nelson Bay and the Drive/Ride home.
