Diver's Notes

We stayed the night at Lizard Island, a very calm sheltered anchorage.
Next morning 3 tender loads of divers were ferried across to shore to await their plane back to Cairns.
Only 5 of us (Hayley, Ed, Stu, Julia & me) stayed on the boat for the Minke whale trip.
My new room mate Ed is an ex-instructor and seems pretty chill.

buddy Chelsea the volunteer
My usual buddy had left the boat (bye Myranda, it was awesome diving with you) so I was buddied up with Chelsea, one of the volunteers.
On the way down, 1 of the smaller cods decided to come and say hello. No idea why, but they seem to like me and want to get close. Eventually I put my fin between us and he lost interest.
We cruised around, spotted a white tip lying in the sand, then found another in a cave.
After 35 mins I found the bommie i thought was where I saw the octopus the previous day. I circled 3 times, now confident that it was the right bommie, but couldn't see him.
Just as I gave Chelsea a shrugged shoulder look of resignation, her eyes widened, she pointed, and 2 little octopus eyes peered out of a hole at us.
Down to 70 bar, I signaled to Chelsea it was time to head back to the boat. Making our way to the mooring line, the largest code decided to come over and say hi.
Chelsea was shooting video of him, but he seemed to be more interested in me, so I ducked behind Chelsea. Each time I showed my self, the code headed in my direction.
I'm thinking that the cod may be attracted to the bright orange nautilus I had attached to my BCD.
