Diver's Notes

The first open water dive with my new Apeks WTX-D40 backplate and wing. Istvan was my dive buddy. Sea conditions were bad, large waves made it hard to gear up on the boat before dive. Because of that I could not tighten my weight belt sufficiently and as a result the trim moved nearly all the way to my left hip. This made it impossible to keep balance under water and I kept rotating to my left side. I finned hard to compensate for the rotation and tried to fix my weight belt. The belt was hard to move as lead blocks interfered with webbing of the harness. Istvan assumed that I was panicking and tried to calm me down, but I was just struggling and exerting. Visibility was bad already and slightly fogged up mask did not help either. I lost sight of my buddy and my frantic movements caused hitting Istvan's head with the corner of my cylinder, as he was behind me. Needless to say, Istvan was not happy with that. Dive was called off.
