Diver's Notes

Dive #2 of the Night diver course with Oceandivers instructor Ronan Fahy and course buddy Adam Eppel.
Lots of navigation. Had to swim by a planned pattern (Adam navigating 330º for 5min, then me taking over on 0º for 20min, then Adam - 180º for 20min and me - 150º for 5min), after which we supposed to be back to initial point. We got very close, Ronan was happy with our navigation skills. I used built in compass from my new Shearwater Perdix computer, as it is always visible in the dark, responsive and easy to use.
Apart from that, there were very shallow areas, about 3m deep, which was quite hard to get stable buoyancy. We could feel slight surge and waves, occasionally hitting bottom.
Adam's pace was quite fast, at times it was difficult to keep up. Frog kick was too slow, I used flutter kick not to be left behind.
At one point when I was leading, Adam got behind me and I did not notice separation issue, Ronan had to intervene and get us back together.
Safety stop was not needed, as at the end we were swimming in a very shallow area, computer registered safety stop as completed.
Previously I used 6kg weight for the same setup, but this time I added an extra kilo for stability in the shallow areas. It helped a lot.
