Jill 29 Mediocre Molokini dive. Too much time in the sand channel. Saw green eels and lots of fish. Really like Lahaina Divers, but probably won't do molokini with them again, except back wall. Elliot and Mike and Jason (driver) and Mike recognized us. Saw white tip reef shark and turtle at end.

Jill 30 Lots of coral. Really cool area of Molokini. Saw a couple eels and lots of fish. Coral reminded me of some GBR dives.

Jill 31 Molokini - outer, partial wall dive with Makena Coast Divers Meet at Kihei boat ramp. Trying new dive company (for us) out of Kihei - Makena Coast Diving Charters. A bit late and disorganized, but ok overall. First group got to do a backside wall dive, but we had a woman in our group that did not want to do a wall dive, so we did a partial wall dive. Dive was very good, lots of pretty coral & fish & garden eels & a turtle at the end. The artist Wyland was on our boat, though he dove alone - to 180 feet with his 16-megapixel camera. He seemed nice though a bit arrogant. Had a new $12,000 tattoo of a turtle by guy that tattoos rock stars (Rob Zombie, etc.) Seemed to be a friend of the owner and they were bantering about the company's crappy logo and how Wyland should paint him one. Had Wyland name/logo on everything - shirt, hat, BC, wetsuit. Also talked (to owner) about dumping his girlfriend because she wasn't nice. Coolest thing we saw was a frogfish blending in to the coral. Also saw 2 sharks at the beginning.
2005-12-26 - Molokini Crater, Hawaii Maui, United States

jill 32 Molokini West Side, outer and partial wall dive w/Makena Coast Dives Started in crater, descended to 20' then swam over edge of crater to back wall. Then descended to 60' and followed wall and current back in to crater. Heard whales. Saw eels and a big turtle swam within about 6 feet of Jill near the end of the dive. Very cool. Spent time on surface before dive looking for a whale shark rumored to be in the area. No luck. Makena Coast were nice, but no roll call and too laissez-faire for us. Did not feel entirely safe and not very organized. Great site, though. Saw Pro Diver boat so they are still in business, so may try them next time if we want to go to Kihei. Also would like to try some shore dives on our own.

Cathedral was very beautiful today, with light streaming in. Saw whale spouts & small pod of dolphins on way over to Lanai. Mike (twin) was driving boat and I think the owner (or mgr) Scott was on board. Didn't really see any interesting life, but saw lots of fish & was good dive. Surface was rough & I had good enough air management to surface last.
2006-01-01 - Wash Rock, Hawaii Lanai, United States

Cathedrals was too rough so we went to Wash Rock. Wash Rock is a great dive site. Group saw a shark, but I missed it. Saw eel * some huge school of yellow striped fish. Rock has some cool nooks and a wall on one side. Lots of life. Except for the actual cathedral, this is the best site I've been to on Lanai. On way back in saw huge pod of 30-40 dolphins and a couple whales, including a tail on a diving whale.
