Molokini - outer, partial wall dive with Makena Coast Divers
Meet at Kihei boat ramp.
Trying new dive company (for us) out of Kihei - Makena Coast Diving Charters. A bit late and disorganized, but ok overall. First group got to do a backside wall dive, but we had a woman in our group that did not want to do a wall dive, so we did a partial wall dive. Dive was very good, lots of pretty coral & fish & garden eels & a turtle at the end.
The artist Wyland was on our boat, though he dove alone - to 180 feet with his 16-megapixel camera. He seemed nice though a bit arrogant. Had a new $12,000 tattoo of a turtle by guy that tattoos rock stars (Rob Zombie, etc.) Seemed to be a friend of the owner and they were bantering about the company's crappy logo and how Wyland should paint him one. Had Wyland name/logo on everything - shirt, hat, BC, wetsuit. Also talked (to owner) about dumping his girlfriend because she wasn't nice.
Coolest thing we saw was a frogfish blending in to the coral. Also saw 2 sharks at the beginning.
