DMC Dive. Assisted with tying off the boat to the mooring. Took the trailing end of the dive group but kept the same diver from the previous dive as my 1:1. The other divers did a free descent because the water was really calm, but we took the line down because he required a slow descent. It took us a couple minutes to get down. I looked away to get my bearing with the rest of the divers and I turned around and he was fighting to stay down. I pretty much performed a CESA to get to him but he had broken the surface. At the surface I asked if he wanted to continue with the dive or sit out and he said he'd go. I reminded him the importance of making SMALL corrections to buoyancy, even if it takes longer. Too far from the line, we did a slow free descent, which was actually kind of labor intensive on my part. I was actually surprised we pulled it off. To keep from getting lost, we were hovering above the dive group as we descended.
Throughout the dive, I constantly checked his tank pressure, buoyancy, and comfort. He appeared to have enjoyed himself much better on this dive than the previous dive. Upon our return to the mooring, we opted against the "stay and play" because his air consumption, so I led him back to the boat. The captain asked me to tie a bottle at the end of the line to create a makeshift mooring ball.
