Diver's Notes

The spring bottoms out at 97 feet but we were taking our time after we enter the water. There’s plenty of light for the first 35 feet and though it gets dimmer as you continue to descend. We were all just making our way slowly down the descend line and turned our flashlights on as we continued down. Mark was a little worried about Ben though he seemed quite confident the entire time. It is a stunning cave structure and continues down at 45° angle until you get to around 40 feet when it just kind of descends straight down. It’s got some amazing views as you look back while descending though after you reach about 75 feet there’s no lights available. The cave takes a funnel like shape as you descend and gets narrower the further you go down. It was quite a deep dive so we knew we would not be hanging out too long at that depth and started my ascent at about 20 minutes. Our computers showed a lot more time on the clock as we were ascending. Mark and Ben stopped off at the diving Bell to have a chat. A diving Bell rests at about 35 feet and is an interesting part of the dive. We continued to slowly ascend until we got to our safety stop depth of 15 feet where Julio and I just floated there for about three minutes while the clock ticked away. There were a few fish there though we did not see the resident turtle “Virgil.“ We surfaced and made our way out of the spring area back to our pavilion. I was not surprised that my air left in my tank was only 400 psi when we surfaced as I lost about thousand PSI when my octopus malfunction earlier.
