Diver's Notes

Not the greatest of dives but definitely good to get it out the way before diving at Easter.

Before getting in the water my unit had battery drop to a low voltage so I ended up with the whole dive having to suppress the alarm every five mins!

Also my backup wouldn't turn on so I wasn't able to take a bearing for the dive.... which would lead to us surfacing on literally the furthest point away from the exit at the quarry. Plus it also meant that it was stuck on OC mode- meaning that I racked up 20 minutes of deco on it..... wasn't too happy when I bent it to get out of the water :-)

Jumping into the water from the bus stop also lead to a free flow from my BOV. I managed to shut it down with only losing 50 bar but meant I had to lumber out with the kit, find a friendly Luton diver and borrow an alan key to reset the mouthpiece.

All of this ended up unsettling me for a lot of the dive so not the greatest. Underwater all was pretty good with the unit and felt fairly comfy despite the cold and dreadful viz. It was a little better down in the pit but shocking in most places.

We took a very wrong turn at some point obviously but on the way we did find 2 minis and a SmartCar.... was fascinated to see that the tyres still looked to be intact as they were squashed in with the 3 bar of pressure at 20 metres.

After a long surface swim back we both were pleased to have got through the dive, eager to get back in but pleased that we'd blown out some cobwebs.
