Diver's Notes

Second dive on this lovely wreck. This was such a cracking dive as we had a good look at the propellor, then trucked inside to mooch around the engine room and then worked our way up to the wheelhouse for some close encounters with barracuda.

Was impressed by the engine room when discovered that the light fitting is still attached to the ceiling! Lots of the mechanism still on display in the room. We then took the stairs up into the accommodation block and had a little look around the toilet and bath rooms. Out onto the main deck and a little foray into the tanker section again before working our way up into the wheelhouse and up onto the top.

Out on the top section we watched the barracuda hunting the smaller fish. They seemed to be circling around us but I think we were hypnotically attracted into the middle of the fish they were corralling! Two of them made a bit of a show of not being scared of us - one came within about six feet of us giving us the beady eye. I was made up when I saw one actually catch a fish... incrediballs!!! Needless to say Nessa was petrified and screamed her little lungs out. Moved our way gradually behind the funnel and away from the barracuda though.

We’d reached 30 minutes bottom time on the wreck and had around 8 mins of deco so swam off to brave the swell around the tip of the inlet. Finished off another great dive where Nessa and I had the whole wreck to ourselves again, swam through a very cool engine room and almost kissed a pair of barracuda!
