Diver's Notes

This dive felt very much like the diving in gozo. We met a dive school about 20 mins away who then we followed grabbing other people and tanks before heading to a remote beach covered in rocks and sand dunes.

The area on the land here is protected to preserve the habitat of the local birds. And that includes the water surrounding the area. This makes it a great place to go diving as there is no fishing in the area.

Was lovely underwater after entering via a bit of a washing machine entry. Lots of colour and love underwater.

We started to see lots of blue and yellow nudibranchs and also lots of fish of different varieties. Some curious looking shannies up in the shallows, rainbow coloured wrasse, lovely little box fish and some loyal jacks which followed us for a good 10-15 minutes.

Was quite a swim in the dive.... Over the top of the reef before dropping down to the seabed at about 20 metres. We also spotted a few moray eels in small cracks and were fooled by the sea cucumbers into thinking they were octopus or morays under the rocks.

Down on the sand our guide found a stargazer buried. Was very impressive how we spotted it and could lift it out of the sand. Looked like the mouth of an iguana or crocodile. Great watching it bury itself again after being extracted from the sand.

Down into the bottom and we spotted again a big school of snapper with a few hungry looking barracuda around..... They stayed a lot further away today than earlier in the week ;-)
