Diver's Notes

After Billy's checkout dives with Daniel, Joseph and I went back to do a longer (40 min) dive. I mentioned that I felt I was still overweight, and Billy suggested I try 4 lbs! I thought that I would have issues getting under, but I tried and, well, success! In fact, I still had to inflate a bit once down near the bus! But Joseph and I still had a little fun filming me "trying to get under" unsuccessfully, which I plan to edit and send him later...

Joseph wanted to show me the "deep" brim beds (around 30') that are located just off of the road near Al's car. We swam to the bus and along the road bed, then right off of the road bed where the line goes left toward the Al's car. We didn't find the brim (saw some traces; they must have moved on). My mask was fogging a bit, so I couldn't see the bed clearly, and I was staying at or above the thermocline at 20-25' most of the time. We did see the machine parts (first time I've seen them) before circling back to the road bed and swimming back to the bus. We continued to the basketball court before turning and swimming past the entry point and down the wall. We turned again at the shelter and rock crusher conveyor, and swam out.

I had a hard time catching my breath at first. It took me until almost at the turn off of the road bed before I felt like I could breath regularly. Not sure why. Joseph filmed this time. Same setting as the earlier dives.
