Diver's Notes

Our night dive proved unfruitful in that we did not see any mantas: there had been a dry spell for a couple of weeks, so this was not a big surprise. The news, however, had allowed us to dive alone: no other boat was on site and there were only six of us! The surge made it difficult to stay put at first, but we quickly settled in. After about 20 minutes of no sitings, Carl lead us off to explore the reef again. The second group said they spotted one manta ray right after we entered the boat. Oh well, maybe next time!

On the trip out we were greeted by a large humpback whale which breeched and slapped the surface of the water with its fluke before swimming along beside us!

The entire experience was really made worth it by the professionalism and enthusiasm displayed by the crew of Honu One. (Thanks John, Nico, Sandy, Lauren and Carl!)
