Diver's Notes

Paul’s Ledge, Molasses Reef
Great marine life, and the most sharks I’ve seen in Key Largo! Immediately joined 2 reef sharks on entry. On our return, we ran across a nurse shark laying in the sand channel and were rejoined by the two reefs. First time I’ve ever gotten two species of sharks in the same frame! Between this, we saw an abundance of the more typical reef fish found here, a large (~3 ½’) stingray, and a very large moray eel. A notable reef fish encounter were two highhats that I spent a little time filming. When I continued over the reef, I looked down and saw a small school of them! Back at the boat during our safety stop, Billy demonstrated the underwater deployment of a safety sausage. Back on the boat I commented that we saw everything but a turtle. Not 10 minutes after we came across two dolphins off the bow of our boat, and soon a very large turtle swimming along the surface!
