Diver's Notes

USS Spiegel Grove
Dive # 100! Seas were choppy, around 4’ with 6’ swells, but once under water, vis was great and there was very little current. We set this up to ‘drift’ along the wreck anyway, not quite knowing what the current was like below. Plan was to go down the stern line, then back up the port side near the super structure. Worked out great. Reef fish and horse-eyed jacks were around, but not too many others. Weather predictions indicated that seas were going to get rough and some storms may pass through. Maybe they knew it was time to get hunkered down… Most noticeable marine life was the large school of barracuda hanging out above the wreck at about 60’. Getting on the boat was a lot easier than I would have thought. Jen bumped her head and tank on the platform, but she was OK. One-hundredth dive is in the books!
