Diver's Notes

Jen and I went to Fantasy Lake to practice navigation before our Nav course. We mapped out a new course prior to beginning.

First leg went well, but we overshot the second leg with Jen navigating (vis was bad and I'm pretty sure we were off just to the right, as I saw two lines merging under us, but was not sure if they went to platform or not). I stopped Jen when we crossed the drop off as I knew that we had gone too far at that point. We transversed back, but still overshot, and kept swimming until we came up on the wall just west of the entry point. At this point, we followed the wall back, surfaced short of the beach and swam. Visibility was very poor.

Lessons learned:

* Cannot move arm to set bearing (must square up with swim line and keep position)
* Person not navigating must look out for waypoints, ground, and other obstacles
* Don't panic! Jen was shook up pretty bad, probably due to the visibility.

Ended dives for day (second one planned was aborted). Jen wanted to wait for instructor to be with us.
