Diver's Notes

Last of the checkout dives, the team split into two parts with Eric taking the three guys (one accompanied by his certified girlfriend). Billy wanted to drill the emergency dive ascents with one of the students. She and her buddy went with Billy, and Joseph and I tagged along to help out. Billy asked me to lead from the shore to the bus, but my compass wouldn't display once it was in dive mode! I need to check that out later. Anyway, I swam to the road bed just a little to the right (Joseph tugged me when he saw me swimming to the right). Billy reviewed mask clearing and reg removal, then we headed for the platform with the hoops. While doing the ascents, we stayed behind with the other student and did some more buoyancy exercises to pass the time. We then swam back to the bus and across the brim bed. I spotted a large, rather aggressive brim and swam up to it pointing. He attacked my finger a few times before swimming back down to his bed and looking back at me. Funny fish...

At the plane we split (Billy and the girls went one way, Joseph and I the other). We went through the fuselage from the front window and out the side door, meeting the other group. When we got to the nose, I noticed the two girls had split up and the one I was with couldn't find her buddy. She had surfaced somehow, so Joseph went to help her while I stayed with the other. Seemed a little scary for both girls, but they recovered fine and we finished the dive swimming up and out the same walk-in we entered.
