Diver's Notes

Sunny day, but choppy seas (1-2 feet) and strong currents. The latter required us to abort the originally planned dive on the USCG Duane after a few in our party went down and came back up saying they couldn't get down the line. Billy missed the line when he back-rolled in, so we picked him up at a nearby buoy.

I started out diving with my wetsuit on, with 14 pounds of weight, as I already had it on for the Duane. I could not get under the surface even with kicking--very frustrating. I boarded the dive boat on what seemed like a very long swim against the current, stripped the wetsuit off, and made a re-entry. I forgot to trim the extra weight, so I was a little heavy.

Strongest current yet at Molasses Reef, at about 1/2 knot. It was fun to ride the current back to the boat. I filmed a little, but my camera eventually gave out.
