Diver's Notes

Two-foot chop, with occasional three-foot waves. The wind was strong, but out of the NE so we were sheltered. Visibility was so-so—about 30’—with no noticeable current. Fish were abundant, especially along the bottom-edge. Near the stern, port-side, were a small school of a half-dozen midnight parrot fish and a grouper. While filming a trumpet fish, Billy pointed out a gold-flecked moray eel just under me. The resident loggerhead turtle was sleeping between two of the spars on the starboard side near the bow. Capt. Steve said to look out for a spotted drum among the rubble at the bow. Sure enough, he was there! Another was under some of the wreckage on the port side 20 yards or so from the bow. On the inside of the bow, I noticed 2 glasseye snappers, making me believe Wednesday’s dive was not the first time I have seen one. Perhaps that’s just the first time I really noticed one. Jen was getting cold, so we resurfaced to a bitter wind, but smoother seas.
