Diver's Notes

Dove with Suzanne on this dive to explore an old DC-3 that didn't quite make it to a nearby landing strip. Story goes that this plane was on a drug run when it shorted the runway and ended up 20 feet under water.

Started out a bit rough. I did not check my air on my computer before jumping in, and, well, I was short. Noticed I only had 500 PSI to start, so I swam to Suzanne and let her know that something was wrong (computer), low on air, and I was going back to the boat. (Later she told me this confused her as I had just jumped in, but then understood after hearing my story). They got me aboard and filled my tank quick, then I was back in for another try, this time with a full tank! Another lesson learned today: Make sure to ALWAYS check your pressure! The great service all week must have spoiled me, and I got complacent.

I brought my GoPro along, but ran out of "film" shortly after jumping in the water. Could have gotten some good pics of a lot of mollusks--mostly welks and conchs--among them a Triton's Trumpet and large tiger cowrie, neither of which I've ever seen alive before. The plane was small but interesting to explore, and was the only topography on the flat, sandy sea floor.

Joseph lent me his light again, and I really like it. However, the white light proved to bright--even on the lowest setting--for the camera.
